If you feel the air pressure is too strong when you first turn on your CPAP, the Ventmed CPAP DS6 offers a perfect solution: the Ramp Time feature. This setting allows you to fall asleep at a lower, gentler pressure before the machine gradually increases to your prescribed therapy level.
In this post, we’ll show you exactly how to customize your Ramp Time in under a minute.
Step 1: Enter the Settings Menu
The Ventmed DS6 has a built-in safety lock to prevent accidental setting changes. To access the adjustment page:
Ensure the machine is plugged in and on the Standby Screen.
Press and hold the ENTER button for a few seconds.
Keep holding until you hear a “BEEP” sound. This indicates you have successfully entered the settings mode.

Step 2: Navigate to Ramp Time
Once you are in the adjustment menu:
Use the UP and DOWN buttons to scroll through the menu options.
Highlight “RAMP TIME” on the display.
Press the ENTER button once to enter the specific setting page.
Step 3: Adjust the Duration (0–60 Minutes)

Now you can customize the timing to fit your sleep habits:
The Ramp Time range is 0 to 60 minutes.
Press the UP button to increase the time or the DOWN button to decrease it.
Pro Tip: Most new users find 20–30 minutes to be the most comfortable “sweet spot.”
Step 4: Save and Exit
Once you’ve selected your desired time, simply press the ENTER button.
The system will automatically save your new setting and exit the current page. Your Ventmed DS6 is now ready for a more comfortable night’s sleep!
Why Should You Use the Ramp Feature?
The “Ramp” is designed for comfort and compliance. By starting at a lower pressure, it reduces the “claustrophobic” feeling some users experience, making it much easier to transition into deep sleep.
If you fall asleep quickly: Set it to 5–10 minutes.
If you take longer to relax: Set it to 30–45 minutes.
If you feel like you aren’t getting enough air: Reduce the Ramp Time or set it to 0 to receive full pressure immediately.
